Good sources of protein include fish, poultry, lean red meat, eggs, low-fat dairy products, nuts and nut butter, dried beans, peas and lentils, and soy foods.

CARBOHYDRATES

Carbohydrate is the main source of energy. Carbohydrates give the body the necessary fuel for physical activity and proper organ function. The best sources of carbohydrates – fruits, vegetables, and whole grains – also supply essential vitamins and minerals, fiber, and phytonutrients to the body’s cells. (Phytonutrients are chemicals in plant-based foods that we do not need to live, but can promote health.) Fiber is a part of plant foods that the body cannot digest. There are 2 types of fibers. But some of these substances can be toxic, especially when taken in high doses. In fact, high doses of unusual vitamins and minerals may make chemotherapy and radiation therapy less effective.
